Conation was first mentioned by philosophers in ancient Greece. It is an inborn set of instinctive preferences which resides in the third part of the mind--not related to cognitive strengths or personality factors. Conative strengths apply in any setting. They can predict success in any new endeavor, whereas the resumé cannot.

Individual Coaching

Dr. Armstrong provides coaching to individuals regarding their career and educational path. This process is centered around the Kolbe™ results as well as other measures. This is particularly helpful for those facing mid-career decisions as well as those entering any type of advanced educational program.

Consultation with Teams

Phased consultation is provided to key leaders and management teams in government agencies. The process begins with individual in-depth interpretation of Kolbe profiles for the key decision- maker(s) involved. A team seminar usually follows which sets the stage for understanding the usefulness of the Kolbe™ system and for clarifying the initial goals management has for introducing the system within the agency.

Next, individuals in key working groups can be given individual interpretations of their profiles. A team synergy report provides a crucial picture of any imbalance in an existing team's synergy. Recommended strategies for correcting any imbalance are presented to the team during a team consultation session. Finally, the Kolbe-B Index™ (measuring any role strain an individual may be experiencing in his/her current position) and the Kolbe-C Index™ (measuring tension created by any gap between the individual's M.O. and what the manager sees as required for success in that position) may be provided. The entire Kolbe system™ provides a powerful and coordinated framework for the best placement of personnel. This system meets all EEO requirements. It allows managers to pick new hires using a model based on past evidence of success in the positions being filled.


Couples/Family Coaching

Dr. Armstrong coaches couples and families regarding in-depth understanding of their Kolbe™ profiles and how their talents can be accepted, coordinated and well-utilized to increase harmony and effectiveness. The youth version of the index is available for those with 4th grade reading level or higher. There is also a child version which is completed by the parent. Knowing your child's M.O. provides you with new understanding of how your child operates and learns best.
